Shou Sugi Ban originated in 18th Century Japan. It is a method of preserving wood by charring with fire. The resulting wood has a scorched crackled finish with a deep charcoal black colour.

Due to the hand made nature of this product any irregularities or perceived imperfections should not be considered as flaws but part of the unique hand crafted essence of the piece.
